County debuts new traffic safety website

Information includes road information, safety data, links to county and state offices

Middlesex County is now operating a comprehensive traffic safety website for traffic safety concerns and road information, including tips for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

The website, http://mctrafficsafety.com, also enables users to report road repair issues and provides a list of all traffic safety events within Middlesex County. The site was debuted during the Middlesex County Freeholders meeting on Feb. 16.

“Assimilating the three E’s of traffic safety — enhancement, enforcement and education — Middlesex County’s Traffic Safety website offers a one-stop shop for information: safety tips, safety data, traffic safety events, and reporting roadway concerns and problems,” said Freeholder H. James Polos, chairman of the county’s Public Safety and Health Committee.

Links to various county offices, the state and each of the county’s 25 municipalities provide access to the individual sites so that users can report a traffic safety or road repair problem on any local, county or state road within Middlesex County

“Whether you are a driver or passenger, pedestrian or cyclist, our new Comprehensive Traffic Safety Web is an incredibly useful tool,” said David Gregor, Middlesex County’s Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program coordinator. “Not only have we assembled valuable tips and data, we offer information on all types of programs and events and are even making it easier to help keep our roads in top condition by giving users an easy path to report a problem.”

The site is funded through grants from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety and Keep Middlesex Moving (KMM), the county’s transportation management association. The site was developed in partnership with KMM.

Residents can access the site by visiting http://mctrafficsafety.com. Starting in March, users will be able to access the site through the KMM Web site, www.kmm.org.
